So I downloaded 1.4 release and ever since then I have had long load time on books, long loads opening my B&N library...Basically its a HUGE difference in the load times. I have "power cycled" the nook by holding power for 20 seconds, then for 4 to turn on, a few times, as well as taking out the battery and replacing it..Still getting incredibly long load times, 2-3x what they used to be. Page turns are fine, powering on is fine, connecting to wi-fi is fine, but any kind of load is bogged way down.
Any reason why?

I am not experiencing any of this since I updated the software. And honestly I have no clue as why this is. I am assuming your battery is fully charged. How many documents do you have sideloaded and how big are they?

Most of the performance issues like the one you describe reported since the 1.4 update seem to involve huge files, especially PDFs. I haven't noticed any performance deterioration, either. Sol JJ's question is especially relevant: how big are the files you're seeing the problem on?
It may just be a coincidence that these things are being noticed after the update: synchronicity, but not causality.

No problems here either. I have mine on airplane mode all the time, so when I "purchased" the 21 free books the other evening they all downloaded at once to my Nook once I enabled wifi. It took seconds for them all to hit...
One item of note, I have two of my daughter's manga sideloaded on my microSD card and they are HUGE! One of those is over 200MB...

I am always in airplane mode, except when downloading new content i connect to my wifi. It is nothing abnormal. I have maybe 150 books side loaded, and 30 or so from b&n. No pdfs, only epubs. And its during all loads, not just huge files, i downloaded one of the free American classics or w/e and it was like 50 something pages, but it took like 10 seconds to open.

I'm having problems since the update too. First of all, the update wouldn't automatically install from home. I had to go to B&N to install it. Turning on the Nook seems to take a looooong time. It freezes up and I lost my location in the book I was currently reading this morning...been reading it for a week and it suddently thought I was just starting to read it. Any way to unintall the update?
