Book covers not showing up

Last week I downloaded quit a few books & the books are on my Nook but it's just a gray box rather than the covers pictures. Has anyone had this issue or know what I can do to get the covers?

im having the same problem i bought a few books and the covers just showed a gray box. i tried archiving them then un archiving them to see if that would help and it didnt. and i dont know what to do either.

Any fixes for this yet? I posted about it last week, but never received any help with the problem.
I tried e-mailing B&N for help, but I was just told to power down my Nook which I did several times
but to no avail.
If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to resolve it, we'd all be very grateful.

i figured out how to get the covers to show up u need to turn on your wifi let it load then i checked my library and the covers showed up. then went ahead and turned off wifi and the covers are still there. try that and see if it works

try going to the show covers option then scrowling all the way through all of them to the end after that turn on wifi let it load go to your library and the show covers check that they are there then turn wifi off. i did that and it worked.

Thank you. I was having problems with the covers as well. Thought it was normal for some books. But got bothered when my Sparks' books were affected. Glad I saw this post. You're brilliant!

I'd also like to say thanks! I tried that when I updated the new software & when the covers still didnt show up I never thought that was the issue but I tried it again this weekend & the covers appeared-so much better than those stupid gray boxes!

This did not help me with my covers. The last 3 that I have bought are still not showing up. All of the older past Nook Book covers are there just not the last 3. The only WiFi spot I have on my Nook though is the Barnes & Noble WiFi address that the BookSeller at Barnes & Noble put in to download the update.

I have all of mine except 2. One is The Demon Girl and the other is Legend of the Tiger's Throne. For some reason these 2 will not show covers.

I'm not near any wifi hotspots, so unfortunately it's no help for me. All my past
covers still show in my library, just not the ones purchased after this problem
started. The "Special Offers & Articles" box is not loading either. The covers
will show most of the time when I hit the "show covers" button, but still not
when I select an individual book to purchase.
It's great that wifi fixed the problem for you guys, but doesn't that sort of
defeat the purpose of having the 3G Nook? It's obviously still a problem
with the 3G that B&N needs to address, especially as we paid extra for it so
that we wouldn't need wifi specifically. There has to some sort of glitch that
was caused by B&N since this was not a problem orignally.

I've had the same issue. Was just recently on vacation and noticed that three of my covers for books downloaded months ago had disappeared. When I got back home and reconnected the wifi, two returned, but one is still missing. Any other suggestions?

Nothing new to add, but I did send another e-mail to B&N, and it looks
like they're finally working on the problem. As to when it will be
resolved...

Agreed! I too rely on my 3G, and all of my latest purchases are grayed out covers. Even after loading the 1.7 update, still nothing.
Please, someone fix this!!!

having same problem. there is so many problems i hear with the update. i don't want to turn wifi on because of that. I recently noticed covers are gray. Haven't powered off yet to see if that helps. But that will be next before I give in with wifi.
I too have 3g and noticed that I haven't seen the bars recently. Hope all gets fixed soon.

I found out that I already have the software 1.7. So I rebooted nook and when it came on again I had a little bit more covers being shown. But the one cover that I am reading never showed up. So turned on wifi went to covers, wola! all covers are there. Than I turned wifi off. Hope they get that 3g fixed soon.

The NOOK has had troubles with "dropping" covers since the early days. But it was usually an intermittent thing and didn't matter if 3G or Wi-Fi was used.
Part of the problem being the NOOK seems to check all titles for covers every time it updates and not just when the individual title is downloaded.
Recently, mine dropped all the cover data for my B&N Library on the NOOK. I usually depend on 3G, as I have to go out of my way to find convenient Wi-Fi to get on to.
Yes, the Wi-Fi trick did work to restore my dropped covers, thankfully. And trying a little experiment, I added a new book, turned on the 3G, and looked for new content to see what would happen. Luckily, it doesn't seem to have dropped my covers again. But, the new title's cover did not download.
So what's up B&N? Has it been decided that we'll no longer get the covers thru 3G? It would be nice to tell us so, if that's the case. If it's a glitch, it would also be nice to know if you're aware of it and what steps are being taken.

I finally made a trip to the local B&N store to connect to their Wi-Fi. Had to also bring up the "show covers" option and scroll from one end to the other to get the covers to all update (this seems to be a required step, else they do not all appear). After getting all the covers, I shut off Wi-Fi and put the nook into airplane mode just in case. But recently, I downloaded a new sample book via the 3G, and of course, not only did the sample book NOT download its cover, but I also lost the cover of the most recent ebook I purchased, which had been there previously (go figure).
Now, here's what peeves me about this... I purchased my N1E back in the early days when the 3G/Wi-Fi combo was the only option, and I paid the full initial price. Not long after, I purchased another of the same as a gift for family members. Now I realize that B&N is picking up the cost for the 3G, however, this is the agreement they entered into as a provider when they offered that ereader. The whole point of the color touchscreen at the bottom was to be able to see the covers, in color, when the Kindle did not offer that option. The newest touchscreen Nook, also does not offer that. This option was one of the reasons I made that initial purchase. B&N needs to buckle down and keep their end of the bargain to deliver these covers via 3G as they did before. Obviously, they know HOW to do it, because it used to work. Just because Borders went under is no reason for B&N to get slack. If anything, they should step up their game and make sure they are keeping their faithful consumers happy.
B&N - BRING BACK 3G COVER DELIVERY! It's your responsibility to deliver what was promised!
