Re: Can I use a car charger to charge the nook?

It won't work. The voltage isnt the same. I did try it. Bottom line.......it doe not work. It said "plug in charger now or nook will turn off and it did just that!

You are in the Nook First Edition forum, and for the N1E, it does work, the voltage is the same.

Re: Can I use a car charger to charge the nook?

In any event, the VOLTAGE will be "the same": 5V for USB.

However, a USB 2 hub is only rated for 500mA ( distributed over the ports) so unless one has a high current port (hub or stand alone charger) the LCD Nooks will need to be put into sleep mode (after connection, since most will wake up when a charger is connected) for upwards of four times normal.
