Can't get a SD card to work on my nook first gen

I have finaly ran out of internal memory for my nook and i recently bought an sd card for it.  I inserted the card and went into my settings to see if it was in right and it claims to "not be installed". How do i go about installing it?

@Britta-nicole,

All SD cards are not the same. Someone here might be able to assist you if you provided a little more information.

What size SD card is it?

What Class SD card is it?

And Finally what brand of SD card is it?

FYI: I believe the first generation NOOK can use SD cards up to and including 8GB and class 2, 3, or 4.

This is from memory since the first gen NOOK information is no longer displayed on the B&N website and I could be mistaken.

Make sure you lock the SD-card slot. You have to slide the cover to close it.
