Computer doesn't "see" N1E when I connect via USB

This morning I connected my N1E to my computer to sideload a couple of books and it doesn't show up. When I look at my computer drive the Nook is not listed, Calibre isn't seeing it, and neither is ADE. The Nook knows that it is plugged into the computer because the orange light is on and the screen says it is in USB drive mode.

I tried plugging into all my different USB ports and tried plugging into my son's computer with the same results. I did the hard reboot on my Nook and restarted my computer with no change. I searched the forums and there are multiple pots about this problem but I couldn't find any fixes. Can anyone please help me??

It could be a cut or loose wire in the USB cable that is preventing it from being read.

Happy to be here, happy to lie here, happy to know you. . .
