I'm frustrated almost beyond words. I've bought and downloaded several book from BN and loaded them on my NOOK just fine. Until now. When I download a new book from BN, I get "Document is licensed for a different user account." I de-authorized my computer with ADE, then activated it, downloaded a recent book from by BN library, and I'm still getting the "licensed for different user account" error message.
I've been to the ADE forum, where there are LOTS of complaints about this, but dern little help. I've followed their instructions re deauthorizing my computer but I'm still getting the same error message, so at this point I can't download any of the books from my BN library onto the Nook to read them.
Can anyone here help me? I'm at the point of wanting my money back for the NOOK and the books.

Ade has nothing to do with your B&N books and B&N. Your eBook purchases from B&N are download wirelessly to your nook. Make sure wifi is on go to my B&N library on your nook and check for new content.
If you must sideload them into your nook due to no wifi, the easiest way is to install Nook for pc and sideload it from there onto your nook. (that way you do not need to deal with any file name problems)
Best thing to start with is reading the manual. It is available on your nook and on the website for downloading.
1 Nook 3G/Wi/Fi
Nook Color stock
Nook Color / N2A

What geatdanemomDT said: your mistake is using Adobe Digital Editions with B&N NOOKbooks. ADE is for library e-books and for e-books that you buy at other vendors. For NOOKbooks, you not only don't need ADE, you can't use ADE.
NOOK is designed for wireless downloading of NOOKbooks. You can sideload NOOKbooks if you really can't use wireless, but you don't need (and can't use) ADE for that. Just copy the files over.
If you want to read your NOOKbooks on your computer, there are the NOOK for PC and the Mac eReader programs.

Funny, I get that message from ADE each time I "check out" a library book from Overdrive. BUT...it seems to have no actual effect, because the library books pop up on ADE and transfer to my nook just fine.
You should not have to go through ADE to read your B&N books. I don't use ADE for anything other than downloading library books from Overdrive and transferring them to my nook. Everything else is either downloaded wirelessly (B&N purchases) or sideloaded using Windows Explorer on my pc (free books / PDFs / etc.)
When I first got the nook, I misunderstood the purpose of ADE, and tried to "manage" the content on my nook via ADE. Total disaster. It was always showing errors for deleted items and bizarre file names I couldn't recognize. Then after reading a bit on these boards I realized that I just needed to ignore it all. ![]()

That's just ADE snooping around in your NOOK, finding the B&N NOOKbooks, and complaining about them. Like you say, it doesn't hurt anything.

<foreheadsmack> Thanks for this info! I experienced a D'oh moment when I read your post, because I'd been banging my head against the Adobe wall (so to speak) myself. ![]()
I got my recently purchased item to show up on my Nook by navigating to "Check for new B&N content." So nice to know it's easy as pie.

Well this is interesting since Adobe's web page that discusses Adobe Digital Editions, not only states that ADE will read ePub files, but specifically names Barnes & Noble and its ebooks as well as Nook books as being capable of being read by ADE.
So what exactly is the truth?

When this thread started, over a year ago, ADE couldn't read B&N DRM. Supposedly, the latest version of ADE is capable of reading it now. I've not tried, as it's completely unneccesary for your Nook.
