Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Error code c7713 Beware when buying a used Nook!

If you bought a used Nook and get error code c7713 when you try to register, it means the Nook is still registered under another email address.

If you are unable to contact the person who registered it and have them take their time to call B&N and have the email address removed (NO just "un-registering" through the Nook is NOT good enough)

Re: Error code c7713 Beware when buying a used Nook!

I bought mine used (thanks a lot thief on Craigslist), and it turns out that, even worse than the standard Error c7713, as some on them can be fixed by the technical accounts specialist at Barnes and Noble support, mine is blacklisted as "stolen," so it can never be redeemed.

However, perhaps you could get it returned to the original owner and/or maybe something can be worked out there? Maybe some good will or something?

Thanks for posting this.  I recently bought a N2E and plan to sell my N1E on eBay.  I hadn't realized that I needed to call B&N to get my account off the old NOOK.

You do not have to call B&N.

Choose the deregister option in your Nook settings to deregister the Nook. That is all you have to do.

Re: Error code c7713 Beware when buying a used Nook!

On the Nook that I bought I don't see option to de-register.

In Setting-Device-there is: edit your profile, register your nook(which tells me it's already register and to de-register to register) and reset to factory settings(which I did, nothing,)

I was replying to FulltimeRVer who wants to unregister a Nook to sell it.

If your Nook device is not registered, but B&N's server thinks it is, you will have to call B&N.
