Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Frame around the screen is cracked. Can it be repaired

The white frame around the screen on my nook is cracked just below the page turn button on the right-hand side. I suspect it is from overuse and my warranty is long expired. Everything still works but what I'd like to do is put a bit of glue or something similar on the crack so it doesn't get worse. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, how did you deal with it? I've already done the online chat thing with B&N and there isn't anything they can do other than sell me a new nook. I'll probably need to go that route sooner or later but want to make this one last awhile longer.

It doesn't hurt the usability of the device, there have been a lot of reports of this.  Some folks put a skin on the Nook, I would suspect a bit of glue wouldn't hurt it, but I don't know for sure.  I think someone may have even used duct tape, if I recall correctly.

THe crack does not affect functionality at all.

My wife's NOOK (which was previously mine) has had the crack for 8 months now, and continues to work perfectly.

Re: Frame around the screen is cracked. Can it be repaired

I've heard the duct tape repair mentioned.  Not long after getting my 1E the white frame began to bother my eyes, so I bought a roll of Contact paper at the dollar store and cut my own "skin" out.  I also got a silicone  gel case/cover on Amazon for a few bucks.  It has little "buttons" on it.  I knocked my 1E off a counter last week and it fell face down on the hardwood floor.  I swear the fraction of an inch protection from the silicone  protected it.

Re: Frame around the screen is cracked. Can it be repaired

Mine cracked in the same place within 3 months. I got a replacement. The second one cracked in the same place, I got a refurbed replacement. I ordered a "skinit" frame for about $20. I placed the frame on My third Nook. I have not had a problem since then and it has been over 2 years now. I am sure it probably has cracked but I can't see it under the skin or feel it.
