Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

How to completely reset a Nook for resale

So, I rather like the looks of the new nook coming out :smileyhappy:

I'm going to sell my current nook, but I want to make certain it's properly reset. I don't want whoever I sell it to to be buying books with my CC, etc.

Should I just run /Settings/Device/Unregister Your NOOK & /Settings/Device/Reset to Factory Settings?

Is that it, or is there more I need to do?

Thanks,

That's it. You've got it. Unregister and Reset to Factory.

Note: if you've added a micro-SD card, be sure to remove that. If you're selling it with an added card, you'll need to erase that card yourself.

Will this process leave the books that I currently have loaded for the new owner?  I think this would be an added bonus when trying to sell or when giving away to someone.

No, it won't.  The books are tied to your B&N account and once you set it back to factory, they are no longer on the nook.

Is there a way to leave the books but remove the ability to use my account to buy more books?  I would want the new owner to be able to register the nook for their use.

E-books are licensed to you personally, and the license is not transferable.

You could do what Kobo does, and load it with a ton of public-domain titles.
