Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Music Pitch Problems

[ Edited ]

This is probably the wrong day to make a serious post, but I just added audio files (music) to my Nook this morning for the first time. Although the audio plays, the pitch/tempo is lower than that of the original files (tested on several computers). I tested with several mp3s on the Nook and got the same results. Is this issue known to anyone?

Is the Nook fully charged?

Re: Music Pitch Problems

Yes, just charged it yesterday. This shouldn't have an effect though since if it didn't have enough charge it simply wouldn't work.

Try turning your pages faster, see if that helps. :smileywink:

Re: Music Pitch Problems

Nope, but other than testing to make sure I could load and listen to music, I never have.  Using the Nook to play music will dramatically reduce the charge on the Nook and shorten the time between needing a charge.

Bit of a resuscitation of this thread, but I've noticed the same thing as the original poster.  Music has a slightly lower pitch.  It's quite annoying, honestly, and I'm not entirely sure how it has escaped notice until now.

I haven't done extensive testing, but does anyone know if it might have something to do with the bitrates of the audio?  The two files I've used for comparison are in 320kbps and VBR formats.  Maybe lesser bitrates work okay?

Would love to figure out the problem.  It's not that I don't have tons of media players, it's more the principle of the matter.  :smileytongue:

EDIT:  Scratch that, 112kbps song exhibits the same behavior.  Any ideas?
