N1E - Battery purchase

I just noticed that B&N no longer offers replacement batteries for the 1st Edition on the site, and am looking for suggestions on quality aftermarket vendors for a spare, I live a good 45 minute drive from the nearest B&N, so a web seller would be ideal. Any advice appreciated on this, and thanks.

Re: N1E - Battery purchase

I too would like to have good recommendations for replacement batteries, if possible.  Mine is more than a year old and I worry about losing battery life. thanks!

Re: N1E - Battery purchase

Our BN store still has batteries for sale for the 1st edition nook. I would call the store near you to see if they have any. Not sure where to go online for them though. Our store swaps out batteries for free if someone comes in with a dead nook battery.

You can find replacement batteris for N1E at amazon.com  They are currently selling them for less than $10.00.  Check the link below.

Re: N1E - Battery purchase

Thanks: too bad there's no positive consensus on a good vendor/option on Amazon.  I don't live near a B&N but when I was visiting near one I checked there and they had none available for retail sale: he said they might have a few for people who had purchased extended warranties.  Drat. :smileysad:

Re: N1E - Battery purchase

I haven't seen any at stores near me either. You'd think that they'd stock the battery for a year or two (online at least) after the device was discontinued given that one of its selling points was the replacable battery (and a big point in me choosing the nook over the kindle). That said I've used my nook constantly over the last almost two years and haven't noticed a change in the battery. I've now got the NST so my lessoned is that the battery in these devices will probably last until you replace it with something else so a replacable battery provides in many cases very little added utility. I should have figured that out with my Palm Pilot. The battery doesn't last very long anymore, but I don't use it much anymire either.
