[N1E] Some functions not working over 3G

Hi all,

I recently started using my N1E again and I've noticed some issues with the 3G. Namely, I can no longer update my library over 3G. I can browse the shop, download The Daily, and make a purchase, but when it comes to actually downloading my purchased book (which used to work just fine, as recently as July), I just keep getting "Error Retrieving Your Library" errors.  As soon as I connect to Wi-Fi, the errors stop.

The last time I successfully downloaded a book over 3G was in July, which I think predates the 1.7.0 update (which is what my Nook currently has). Was there something in the update that disabled the downloading of books over 3G? Is this a known issue?

I just downloaded and opened a book using 3G so it sounds like its peculiar to your device\account.

Enable show extensions on your computer.

Plug your nook into your computer and look for any temporary files (*.tmp, *.temp) that may be there and delete them.

Disconnect the nook from your computer and check for new content.

If that doesn't correct the issue I would call customer support or use the Live Chat on the support page here.

I think I figured it out. It seems that the Nook won't download books over the 3G connection if Wi-Fi is turned on.  Once I turned off Wi-Fi, things started working as expected.

Yep, if you're not near wi-fi, it is still always looking for a connection if it's turned on, even if you have a strong 3G signal. This can mess with the NOOK's recognition of a valid connection.

That's why, with my N1E, I always kept my wi-fi off unless I knew I needed to do something with it and was near a connection. (And wasn't in airplane mode, which I usually was to save battery.)
