Network Connectivity not available...

So this is irritating.

I'm in college and my school has free wireless access. And yet, when I am trying to download a sample of a book (since I'll be here a while), it says I have problems with connectivity..

Anyone know how to help?

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

We will need more info Katie.

Do you have a lap top, and what steps do you go thru to access the wireless with the lap top?

Does the wifi require a sign in page?  If so, Have you tried opening the browser immediately after connecting to the wifi?

What type of security does the wifi use?

Do you have a smartphone that can connect to this wifi?

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

@Katie_798,

 Try this...

1.  Tap on the WiFi tab.

2. Tap on the Wi-Fi hotspot

3.  Tap on the connected Wifi (the one that has the check mark)

4. Tap on Forget

5.  Reboot your NOOK (Hold the power button down for about 20 seconds.  Then hold down the power button for about 4 seconds to restart)

6.  Scan again for Wifi hotspots and then reconnect.

 Please let me know if this worked for you...

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

I will let you all know when I am at school again tonight and I'll try to reboot it as Michael said.

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

I'm having the same problem.  I have been connecting succesfully to WiFi since August.  In the last week, my NOOK has decided it will  not connect to any WiFi (bought Nook new in August 2010)  It says "connecting" and times out. I have rebooted and "forgot" the previous WiFi hotspots.  It is VERY frustrating.

Any suggestions would be GREAT

Thanks

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

@saverytx,

If there have been NO changes to the wi-fi network that you had connected to in the past (i.e. same router, same security, no changes, etc.) I would think that there is something wrong with the wi-fi circuit in your nook.  To be more certain I would take a trip to your local B&N and see if it connects there.  If the B&N nook person can't get it to connect I would call Customer Support and after talking with them request a replacement.

Good luck . . .

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

Okay I tried what Michael said.. still can't connect to the Shop to get my books! Can't connect to the internet either and it definitely says I've got Wifi. Also, this is a 3G nook! I have bars here and can't download..

Re: Network Connectivity not available...

@Katie:  Its time for you to call Digital Support (as indicated in Michael-V's post above).

I think we've exhausted what we can do to help here, and the fastest way to get it fixed is just call them.  Maybe it needs a warranty replacement of something.

@Katie

Perhaps the problem is not your Wife/3G connection, but your account.

On a PC go to the B&N website and login to your account. Go to your B&N library. Next to each book there is a download button (if you have no books in your B&N library just buy a free book from the website). Can you download a book to your PC this way?
