Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Network Unavailable??

My friend lent me a book using the LendMe feature.  It shows in my library on B&N.com but on my nook, when I hit "check for new content", it says, "Network Unavailable - Please make sure you have network connectivity".  My wifi is showing that it works fine.  Anyone know what else this might mean?  I just got this think last night.

Re: Network Unavailable??

I started getting this message after I bought a magazine subscription.

After being on the phone with support while I was in the B&N store (actually the B&N staff were on the phone) for about an hour and trying things that I knew would not work, they admitted there is a problem with the subscription services.

There was a problem with the account in that the items do not "close" from your account.

They finally resolved the issue by deletling the purchased items and re-registering the nook.

Luckily, everything came back, even my bookmarks.

Re: Network Unavailable??

I also have a question about this. I got this message the other day.

If i'm  in a place with no Wi-Fi but I have the 3G & Wi-fi Nook, it says Network Unavailable if I'm at a place that doesn't have Wi-fi.  Wouldn't it work without it since I got the 3G or am I just confused.

You are not confused, but as this thread indicates, its possible the problem is actually on the B&N servers, and not in your nook.
