I have a first edition. I can buy a book - which means I can connect - but it will not download the book. I get error message "Network Unavailable. Please make sure you have network connectivity. I obviously have connectivity if I can purchase something...why would I have issues when trying to download what I purchased. I tried unregistering and then re-registering but that did nothing.. Help please!!

Found the solution. I forgot I had 3G, so I just turned off the wireless and downloaded it over the 3G network. Thank goodness B&N has not stopped that service on the first editions!!

No. Some original Nooks had the option (at extra cost) to use the 3G phone network. It was an option they removed in later models. Nothing to do with using your phone.
