Nook -- Delete Books?

I have my new Nook and generally love it.  In addition to the problems noted in the reviews, however, I have discovered a two surprising problema.  First, there does not appear to be any way to delete a book from either the Nook internal memory or microSD card from the Nook.  You can delete by attaching the Nook to a computer, but cannot seemingly do so while operating the Nook detached.  Am I missing something?  Second, it cannot read titles and authors of older ereader books in pdb format.  Furthermore, there does not seem to be any way to edit those titles and authors to fix the problem.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Neither Delete Nor Archive appear to be available.

It drives me nuts you can't archive a book from the nook.

B&N, please fix this.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Archive is available for all the books in My Library (click on the book, and scroll down and the last option in Archive), but I completely agree about adding a delete option.  I had a sample (that I didn't like) and wanted it out of the way.  As it was  a sample I couldn't archive it, and it won't delete.  I assume it auto deletes after X number of days, but in the mean time I had to log onto my B&N ebooks library via my computer and manually delete it there.  I suppose for side loaded books, I'd just have delete from my computer as well, but haven't tried that yet.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

If you open the book, you can Archive it (if its in your B&N documents), but for those books which lock-up and refuse to open (forever formatting) you sometimes can never get to that option.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

I hope they'll incorporate a delete option sometime soon. There are some titles I'd prefer not to have on my nook.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Connect the nook to your pc via USB cable, then delete the book you do not wish to keep anymore.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

I was frusrated when I couldn't find a way to delete my books but I figured it out.

When you hover over a book in my library, NOT in the cover flow but in the scroll screen, click "View Itewn Details & Options." At the botom of hat screen will be the option "Archive." Hit that and when it goes back to the first screen, tap "Hide Archived Items" and they will disappear off your nook!

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

I don't so much want to delete books, but I would like to delete the samples.  I loaded a bunch on my desktop reader, which transferred to nook when I received it.  Now I have them archived, but they are still taking up a bunch of space.  They did not autodelete as I thought they might.  I hate having to search through them also, and they are not books I want to buy.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

The only way to delete samples is to log into your B&N account online go to Manage Your Library.  From there, you can delete samples.  Its an annoying process.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Whenever B&N can get to it, I'd like a "Hide Embarrassing Titles" feature to books I'm currently reading.  It's getting to be a BEET of a hassle putting my thumb over... "that" book while I'm trying to show everyone how cool this thing is.  :robottongue:

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

I was able to archive, but I don't seem to have the 'hide archive' feature. Is this something that was added in v. 1.1.1? I've got 1.1.0 and can't upgrade to 1.1.1

I was able to delete the titles from the online library but they still show up on my nook. There has to be some way to get rid of them on the nook as well!!

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

The person above was correct.  You log into your account from your computer click on "My ebooks Library"  You should get a list of all your books.  By the one you want to get rid of click on "delete" it will give you the option to archive it or permanently delete it.  After you select permanently delete, it will disappear from your list.  now turn on you nook, open up your library, and select, "check for new B&N content"  it will then update the list on your nook, deleting books you got rid of from your 'puter and downloading any you may have added while online.  Hope that helps.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Hi, I am not quite clear on the deleting process on a book that is in My Documents. When I have the nook connected to the computer, where exactly am I clicking to delete a book? Thanks.

MikFinkel  "Hi, I am not quite clear on the deleting process on a book that is in My Documents. When I have the nook connected to the computer, where exactly am I clicking to delete a book? Thanks."

When you connect your nook to your PC/Mac you will find it listed as an additional drive.  e.g., on a PC, open "My Computer" and you will see "nook (E:smileyhappy:" or something similar.

Open the nook drive with Windows Explorer and double click on "my documents".  You should see a list of the books in your nook's "My Documents" folder.  Hightlight the book(s) you want to delete and hit the "del" key.

Disconnect your nook and check for new conent in "My Documents" and the book(s) you deleted will be gone.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Check for new content on your nook.  It will refresh your content adding anything new and deleting anything you removed.

Re: Nook -- Delete Books?

Just to be clear, you have to be in your "My Documents" on your nook.  That is ...

Go to "my library", then "View My Documents", then click on "Check for new B&N content".
