I have the 1st generation Nook. I've noticed that it keeps erasing my purchased books. This never happens to the library books on there. I can never tell when it's going to erase things. I will just turn it on and notice that certain books need to be redownloaded. According to the device, there's 805.67 MB / 1.30 GB on there. Other than books, there are some podcasts on the device. I just don't understand why it keeps erasing things. Help, please! Thanks.

I had the same problem on my Nook 1st Edition for a long time, and I think I finally figured it out, but I'm not sure so see if any of this sounds familiar. If I'm right, it turns out I was erasing the books myself.
Every time I connected the Nook to my computer with Adobe Digital Editions running and looked into the Nook, it showed what looked like corrupted files. They had seemingly random numbers for names, and I think they had a banner across them that indicated they were bad. So I would just delete those files. When books disappeared that had been there before I connected the Nook to the computer, I figured out that I must have deleted the book myself, so I stopped doing that.

Yes, for the N1E, ADE tries to read all of the books on the device and it can't read the BN books so they show up as bad books, so you are correct, if you deleted those books while in ADE you were deleting them from the Nook.
The Nookcolor and the NST, with the separate partitions, doesn't seem to have this problem. Which means I don't have to wait 5 minutes or more for ADE to finish trying to read all the books on the device.

OH! Well, that solves the other problem I was having too. I never could figure out what those errors were for. I will stop erasing them now though. Thanks for the help! ![]()
