My nook has been sitting on the start up screen for three days. I cannot get it to shut down or respond at all. I can hook it up to my computer and access the files but the nook itself does not respond. I am now trying to add a manual download of the latest files to the nook. Can anyone offer advise???

There's no way I'd attempt to add a manual download to an unresponsive nook.
Have you tried Digital Support?
Customer Service 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665), option 2 for Digital Support.

Have you tried removing the battery for a few minutes? I'd give that a try. I also agree with Josienjoe - wouldn't try to manually add any files to a frozen nook.

My Nook was stuck as well on the start up page. I removed the batter, put it back and then plugged it in to charge again. Now it has started up. And the batter is low again.

Ours was super slow starting up, but not that slow. I got ours today and it's taken me an hour to get it updated (and helping my husband read the tinnnny font LOL).
