I had a download happen tonight while I was buying a book. It restarted by Nook, and the first book I tried to open it locked up. I cannot turn it off. It's been hours and no change. Can anyone help?

It sounds like you may need to remove the battery and then put it back in. It is kind of a pain to do because you will need a small screwdriver to do it, but it should fix you up! ![]()

You should not have to remove the battery. Try pressing and holding the power button at least 20 seconds and then turn the nook back on.

Fallguy - It is WELL documented that there are times you DO have to remove the battery.
As for the how to...there are also plenty of copies of the instructions all over this site. Search "Frozen nook" and you'll find it.

There is a "user manual" for the Nook. Type in battery when you're viewing the file, and it will show you a step by step with pics.
You will need a small screwdriver. You need to remove the back cover of the nook. Put it on a couch or bed or countertop, face it away from you, upside down. You'll see a hinge to easily remove the cover. Once the cover is off, you'll see where to use the screwdriver. Pull the battery out from the top (the end with the tab on it where the screw goes in).
As for frozen nook, see these posts.
Hope that helps.
