So here's the situation:
My Nook First Edition recently ran totally dead on power, and required me to re-register it. The problem being, that upon doing so it erased all of my books. How do I get them back?
EDIT: Better yet, how do I go about picking and choosing which books make it back onto my Nook?
Solved! Go to Solution.

I've read my Nook 1st ed nearly ALL day. I purchased books 2 and 3 in a trilogy, from my Nook. Nothing. I turned it off and back on again. In the "update" it said it was resetting factory settings. There are NO books on my Nook, in My Library. The books ARE online on my account. I've been on the phone 3 times and on live chat once. They say its a Nook 1st ed issue they are having. I am soooo frustrated!!!!!

Try using a computer and web browser to view the eBooks you have purchased and archive the books you don't want to download. As long as you don't use the "delete" function and B&N retains their license to distribute them you should be able unarchive the books you want to download when you latter connect your Nook to WiFi. If you haven't set the reader to hide archived items you should be able to unarchive items on the Nook itself.
Apparently the "unregister" procedure was designed to clear all of the content on a Nook that is about to be transferred to a different owner or clear corrupted Book or Periodical files that the firmware is having problems dealing with. Apparently the reset to factory settings includes the unregister process and occurs automatically after a failed firmware update or several consecutive failed full restarts.
Of course server issues on B&N's end; firmware/hardware problems with the Nook itself or issues with the WiFi Wireless Access Point (WAP) like passwords, WAP name, encryption protocols and WAP client whitelists could interfere with things. It would be a good idea to install a reader application on any Windows or Macintosh computer under your control, download your B&N eBook purchases to the computer using the reader application and copy the resulting files to removable media like a flash drive.
