Registering problem

First off: On the Nook's "settings" screen, it clearly states under the "email address" that it's "not registered". I have tried to register but everytime I put my email in and click "submit", it tells me that the Nook is already registered and that I must un register it first. I'm so confused. I have a 1st edition, also it is not giving me the option at all to "de register" under the "settings" menu. HELP PLEASE!

What software version does your nook have?

Re: Registering problem

Did you buy a second-hand Nook?

In that case the previous owner probably did a factory reset of the Nook, without unregistering it first. So on B&N's servers the Nook is still registered to another account.

B&N can remove the old registration, but it is very difficult to get them to do this.

Re: Registering problem

A factory reset unregisters your nook automatically. I just sold my 3G nook and never had to go to BN to unregistered it. It disappeared as soon as I unregistered it.

Re: Registering problem

The problem is that original owner did not unregister it from their account and sold it. The original owner has the account information which the new purchaser would not. This is why it is important to unregister your Nook before you sell it.
