Replacement battery woes

I have had my nook 1st edition for about 18 months, and I've noticed that the original battery doesn't hold a charge very long (3-4 days).

So,,,off to Amazon for a replacement.

Did the following:

• turned nook off
• removed old battery
• installed new battery
• plugged into wall adapter

the yellow light came on...charged overnight.

in the morning..."critical battery" alert on screen

was unable to clear screeen...could not turn nook off

then re-installed old battery and turned on...all seem OK

then:

• turned nook off
• removed old battery
• installed new battery
• plugged into wall adapter

yellow light on...screen blank (nook not turning on as it;s supposed to)

yellow light off after a while,,,still cannot do ANYTHING with the nook with replacement battery installed.

HELP!

All of the obvious signs are that you got a bad replacement battery. You should contact the seller for an exchange.

I would also go to a BN store if possible. They can troubleshoot the nook and try another battery. They do not charge for replacement batteries in the store. I would call first to see if the store has replacements. My store has some but not sure if all do. You want to make sure the software is up to date also. I have seen some N1E"s get stuck doing the update. It should be on 1.7.0.

No charge for replacement battery?  Where's your store?  My local store wants to charge me $30 for another battery!!

My store can't charge for the batteries because they are not in inventory any more. We replace old battery with one from our battery charger. Not sure if all stores have these.
