Request Books?

Maybe there is already a page about this, but is there a way to suggest books we would like for eBooks?  I have a few in mind that I would love to have on my Nook but they're not digital.

Yes.

Post the books you'd like to see to this thread:

http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/eBook-Discussion/Can-t-Find-Your-eBook-Tell-Us-Here/m-p/40563...

The thread is monitored and requests seem to be passed on to the right people.

For best results, I recommend one book per post, and include any info you have -- author, availability and price on other sites, etc.

Re: Request Books?

How long does it usually take for a book to be put up if they're going to after it's requested?

[ Edited ]

However long it takes.

If you request e-books like Harry Potter, Ray Bradbury, or To Kill a Mockingbird, you're going to have a very long wait because the authors adamantly refuse to allow their works to be published in e-book form.

If the paper book publishing contract has expired, you're going to have to wait until the author or the author's estate decides to work up an e-book publishing contract with someone. Also you're going to have to wait until they either type in or scan in the original book, then proofread and correct the mistakes, and come up with cover art and other supporting material.

If it's a book that the publisher hasn't gotten around to putting out in e-book form, you'll have to wait until the publisher gets around to it.

If it's an e-book that Amazon has an exclusive distribution deal on, you'll have to wait until the deal expires.

If it's an e-book from a publisher that B&N doesn't have a distribution contract with, you'll have to wait until a distribution contract is negotiated or until PubIt! is running and the publisher decides to use that.

If it's an e-book that was simply overlooked, it could be just a few days. Or not.

Re: Request Books?

I would add one more to Doug_Pardee's list:

If it's a book that is still under its paper book publishing contract, but said contract was entered into before e-books started getting addressed as a regular possibility, you're going to have to wait until the publishers and authors finish fighting over who actually has/retains the rights to publish the e-books.  Possibly in court.

This pretty much addresses most books still being actively published but which were originally released more than 10 years ago.

Re: Request Books?

I would like to see the first six or so of "The Saga of Recluce" series by L.E. Modesitt in e-books for the nook.

Re: Request Books?

As ABThree said earlier in this thread, there is a specific thread that everyone posts books that they would like to see in ebook form.  You can scroll up to her post, or click the link "Can't Find Your eBook?" in my signature.  It will take you to the proper thread to post on.

If the DTB is listed on the B&N site, there is usually a line (right under the price I believe) that says something like 'let the publisher know you'd like this as a NookBook' or something.  Click on that text and you're done.

If it's a book not listed on B&N, you might try looking at other sites that might sell it and see if they have a similar option.

Re: Request Books?

Any time I click that link it says "acess denied, you do not have sufficient privileges for that action." and I'm not seeing anything to click that says "let the publisher know you'd like this as a NOOKbook" which means it's probably right in front of my face?
