I still have one book where the order was canceled during that "server slowdown" and I can't download the replacement as the "call customer service" comes up. CSvc says that the only way to get that "non-downloaded" book off (or ANY order failure) is to call Tech Support...Is that right? Why can't I take it off the online Nook library?

Something apparently got messed up with the file during the server problems. Call 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665), select Option 2 for Digital Support, and they should be able to help you.
If you decide to sideload the book, make sure that you save it to My Documents -- your Nook won't let you save it to "My B&N Downloads" in a usable form.
