The CC will be encrypted and stored on the nook in a place where no one can get at it.
It will not be useable to buy books. Its is only used in its encrypted state as a key to the encrypted book.

Why copy them? Couldn't they use two different payment types? We use our debit cards...they come from the same bank but the card numbers are different.
It just seems simpler that way.....![]()

This is great information Doug! I did this and it worked perfectly! Will the cover page photo show up on the book icon? Right now it just says Book on the blue icon and the file name. If I did this with the books my husband and I share, we won't be able to tell which is which unless we hit View Details. THANKS!

SO I have read and read and done some research but can't find the soloution for this in our situation.
My daughter has a Nook set up with her own account and CC info registered.
I have an IPAD with the Nook Application among others set with my own BN account and CC.
We both read many of the same authors and books and have been sharing our extensive book collection for many years.
Is there a way to "sideload" the ADE version to my IPAD?
Is there a way to "copy" current library on my Nook Application to ADE to sideload onto her Nook?

You don't need ADE to sideload books. There's an instructional video on the website, or you could check out the user guide.

The problem here is that sideloads may not work on the ipad.
(I don't know, because I don't have one, but there are several places on the web that suggest sideloads of epubs into the B&N Nook app on the ipad).
You might have better luck getting this question answered over on the Nook Apps forum.
Once you get past that hurdle, its just a matter of downloading the ebook to your computer, adjusting the name so it has a single extention rather than two, and copying it to My Documents on the opposite device. The first time you open the first book, it will ask for credit card info to decrypt the book and it will remember this for the future. (It does not use that credit card for purchases).

I believe icebike is correct when it comes to sideloading into the Nook app on an iPad. I also don't have an iPad, but I was helping my brother with his during Christmas. The apple iBook app, however, does use ePub as its standard format and you may have some luck sideloading into iBooks to read. I suggest trying that and letting us know if that works before spending too much time trying to force sideload into your Nook app.

Okay, so we are a two nook household but in setting up ADE we set it up with two different usernames. How do we re-do ADE with one username and not have it block access to the books that we downloaded with that unregistered username?

What am I doing wrong? I connect both Nooks to my computer and I can see folders on each but no files to transfer. I have a NookColor and my husband has the original Nook. I would like to be able to share ebooks between us. Can I log into his account and sideload them from there?

Have you downloaded the ebooks to your computer?
To manage personal files and folders on your NOOK:
1 Connect your NOOK to your personal computer using USB, as explained in “Connecting your
NOOK to your Computer” on page 155.
2 Using a file manager, manage the files and folders. Copy files from your computer to your
NOOK, or from your NOOK to your computer, or move or delete files, or manage folders, in
the same manner as you would manage files on your computer.
3 When you have finished managing files, eject your NOOK.

Ok... I must be doing something wrong. I have a nook color, my son has the orginal nook.
I copied the file to my computer and then put it in the MY DOCUMENTS folder on his nook. When I open it, I get an error message of "Cannot open book- unsupported file type"
What happened?

What ProfReader said. There can only be one dot in the file name. Sometimes B&N gives file names like xxxx_epub.v2.epub, and the E-Ink NOOKs with the 1.5 update refuse to deal with that. Rename the file to something like xxxx.epub and it should be fine.

My sister and I share the same account and I was wondering if it charged us both for a nookbook. Is it charging you double to have two copies, one for each nook, or not?

No, you can have up to six devices registered to one account and can read the same books on all six.

How do you transfer from one nook to the other? Can you clarify this to me? Do I need to physically hook the nook to the computer and if so how do you do this?

You need to download the books you want to transfer to the computer, then hook up the nook via the USB cable and drag the books into the My Documents folder. It's covered under sideloading in the manual.
