can I move a book from an iPad to a Nook?

How do I download a book (it is an epub file) from an iPad to my nook? I tired just moving the file to the 'my documents' folder for my nook and the title and author show up but when I go to read it I get a blank screen. What am I doing wrong?

Re: can I move a book from an iPad to a Nook?

If this is a purchase from the iBookstore (or whatever they're calling it), Apple uses their own special flavor of DRM, so even if it is epub, no other epub-supporting reader can actually open it.

I hear there are ways to circumvent some DRM, but I don't know.

So, you're not doing anything wrong.

So is there anything else like this out there that I should be aware of? What sites can I download from that will work on my Nook? I was told by the saleslady that as long as it's epub it will work on the Nook.

As far as I know, Apple is the only one that won't.

For epub, many people use Kobo or Sony. I've only checked out Kobo, but haven't bought there. There prices are good (on non-agency) and they do offer some coupon deals, I hear.

Anyone with more Kobo experience want to chime in?

I purchase from Kobo frequently, no problem with it.  It's just the Apple ePub version that you can't read because Apple only wants you to be able to read it on their devices.

Apples DRM is now able to be removed. But as an Apple hater I have no use for any of their stuff.
