I recently purchased and downloaded Where Men Win Glory from B&N for my husband. Many photos are referenced and described (platoon leader, right front seat, etc.) however NONE of the photos are visible on our Nook. The maps in this eBook are visible but are so small that they cannot be read. Please let me know what we can do to see photos in an eBook and how we can enlarge and manipulate illustrations and photos so that they are easier to view.

The map problem, unfortunately, is a well-known problem with eBooks. They don't display graphics well, and very often will be too small to read easily.
The photo problem is more variable. What you're seeing is probably a decision on the part of the publisher not to try to format the photos into the eBook. Some eBooks have them and some don't, and it's generally the publisher's decision.
You could try Archiving and Unarchiving the book. This will load a fresh copy of the file onto your Nook, and if the file has been corrected by the publisher, you may see your photos. Otherwise, a letter or e-mail to the publisher is your only option. Sorry about that.

I would hope that the publishers would show whether photos are included in their e-books. When I was researching e-books, I don't remember reading about the map and photo problem.

I never heard of this problem either and would like disclosure from the publisher listed here on B&N when I purchase a book for download. I think this is an important piece of information when purchasing any fact based book as part of the enjoyment is seeing the pictures - often times it is a crucial component. Very disappointed that this information was not provided so that I could have made a more informed decision.
