Re: nook will not connect to home network

About a week ago I tried accessing the internet from my Nook Color and found out it was not able to connect....  I have changed nothing (router or any settings on my Nook) that would make my Nook unable to connect.  I have read many forums and everyone is blaming it on the router yet, my Nook worked just fine with the router previously.  I also have not updated my Nook as I am at version 1.3 so that is not a reason either. My wifi is secured and I am inserting the correct password as well.

Frustrated Nook user.

Have you tried resetting your router (turning it off and on again), and rebooting your NC

Try to forget the Wifi connection on your NC, and connect again.

Re: nook will not connect to home network

Here is a bit of Info for the Nook Tablet: 1) resetting the router should always work, although you may lose the connection again. When you reset the router, you temporarily have no security settings when the device is searching and trying to connect to the network. 2) using the MAC filtering AND using a security code for WPA2 can cause problems for the NOOK and cause it to lose the connection, even after you have established the connection and everything appears to be working fine. 3) we have tried eliminating the password and just using the MAC filtering and this seems to work fine. 4)we have also tried setting the router to G and using a password with out the MAC filtering and this also seems to work. Bottom line is that there is a definite problem with the connection of nook tablet and nook color to home wireless networks. I hope that B&N acknowledges the problem and releases a fix soon. Other than that is is a great device

Re: nook will not connect to home network

I read all of your post and tried everything...to no avail.  Finally, while I was looking through the settings of my router, a Linksys E1000 by the way, I noticed under the security settings where you select WPA or WPA2 there was a one word "passphrase" visible.  Completely different from the "password" that I had protected the network with and with which I was trying to connect the nook.  I thought, as most anyone would, I would use the same "password" that I use to connect my wireless desktop or laptop computer. WRONG!, I put the "passphrase" in the nook and the little bugger was connected in seconds. I hope this is helpful to someone, because you all have sincerely been helpful to me, without your recommendations, I'm sure I would have never thought to look at the router.  Thank you.

Re: nook will not connect to home network

I have the same issue with my NST and my time capsule/airport extreme 1st generation.  I have spent an entire day and a half working on it...reconfiguring the router from WEP to WPA to WPA2...etc.  Frustrating as it connects without security configured but not with security as it continues to try to secure an IP address.  I eventually read another post that the space in the network name caused problems, once removed and all bits reset  = worked.  Worth a try, as my next step would have been to deregister the nook (only reason I had not, was that you had to be wifi enabled to do so.)  Well, once I removed the space in our networks name ('Family Network' changed to 'FamilyNetwork') it worked great!  Who know why this worked, but like the other poster, it did.

Re: nook will not connect to home network

Make sure that you type in your pass word correctly. I mocked around tonight with my room mates Nook. And somewhat at first instant did not get any results. But after I retyped the pass word, make sure that you remember whether you had Capital letter or lower letter. Very important. Good luck!

Re: nook will not connect to home network

Thank you!!! You saved me. I, too, have a Belkin router and was going to call them next. Nook tech support told me it was my router, but had no suggestions about any possible settings or areas to take a look. I was on my own. You saved me more frustration. Thanks for sharing your solution.
