When you say you don't have wifi, do you mean you don't have wifi at your house?  Do you also not have access to the AT&T cell phone network?

To sideload the books, download to your computer.  Connect the Nook.  It should show up as a drive in Windows Explorer.  Copy the books from the computer to the My Documents section of the Nook, not the B&N Library Section.  Page 59 of the user guide has a very brief explanation.

For sideloading:

Watch the Video: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/video.asp?bnit=H&cds2Pid=30195#vid2

Do you have AT&T service in your area?  If so, you don't need wifi.  You can download directly.

The nook is delivered with a full users manual.  I recommend you read it cover to cover.

Re: side loading ebooks from my b&n library on my pc

I was a simular problem, i kept getting disconnected from my wifi and the book just wouldnt download so i messed around forever to figure out how to sideload (plug into my computer via USB to load books on manually), I finally called into tech support and the answer above is correct, copy the file you want on your Nook into your Documents file. You have to make sure it hasnt been copied into any other folder left to linger. Once it is loaded into the documents folder then you can disconnet your Nook-library-my documents, and it will be there!

It worked!! Thanks guys!!  I live out in the sticks so all I have out here for at&t is "partner company" which I will get a bill for if I use it.  The closes hotspot is over an hour away.  Not exactly convenient so side loading is definately going to be my immediate way to get my ebooks.  Thanks!  I tried going through the manual but it was really brief in its explanation like you said.  Appreciate the assistance!

You will never get a bill from anyone for using the nook's cellular radio.

Your wireless service is free for life of the device.

As icebike said, if you get a 3G signal you should be able to use the network without charge.

One other possibility is to get a wireless router at home, assuming you have broadband.  They're fairly inexpensive these days and they allow you to share multiple devices at home (PC, laptop, nook, etc).
