Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Have you tried rebooting your computer?  If not, start there...

Re: windows7 wont recognize my nook

Is it Windows 7 32 or 64bit?  I have Windows 7 32 bit and don't have any problems with it, so it isn't that Windows 7 is compatible.

Have you tried a different USB port?  I seem to recall someone saying something about it not working on one of their USB ports but working on another one.

Otherwise, I'd call Customer Service -- 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665), Option 2, Digital Support.

I have Windows 7 64-bit, and have no trouble at all. I second the advice about the cable or port possibly being the issue. If that all fails, customer service.

Yep verify ports with another usb device to determine Device,Port or Windows OS issue.

Win 7 64bit here no problems. But do remember two things. One some desktops and laptops have underpowered usb ports. Try usb port in back on desktops. For laptop may need to go to a powered hub. 2nd Thing is have had seen systems bought used or built from family and they forgot to wire up the front usb ports to the motherboard.

The port could be the issue. I know with my Zune that when plugged into the USB ports on the front of my computer it can be flaky at times. Plugged into the USB ports on the back (which are right on the motherboard) and no issues.

Re: windows7 wont recognize my nook

I had this problem when I was using my USB 3.0 port (they are usually blue in color). When I used the standard usb 2.0 port it worked just fine.

This was on a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate ASUS Laptop
