Hey can anyone help me?
I just downloaded the new beta version of Nook for mac and it loads up a grey screen, then shows me the nook logo, but doesn't bring up the sign in page. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks. I'm running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a 13 inch macbook.

I can't help but I want you to know you are not alone. I don't remember downloading a new version but it used to work, today I get the same thing as you. Downloaded it again and reinstalled just now and still didn't fix it. MacBook 13" Snow Leopard. Annoying as all get out since it USED to work fine.

I figued out how to get the Nook software to function correctly.
Running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
Install the software as instructed into the application folder.
Create a folder and name it: NOOKForMac and also put that in the application folder. (Pay attention to what I have as caps)
Drag the Nook Software into that folder.
Start up the software.
As a test, I renamed the folder: NookForMac and the software stopped functioning again. Why this works is beyond me, but it does.
Good luck.

I tried this solution on my 15" MacBook Pro, OS 10.6.8, 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 processor. No luck. Shootski. I'd really like to be able to manage my library (shelves and all) on the laptop, as it would be easier than on the Nook simple touch I'm using now. Shoulda known when they list technical support for reading apps as "iPad/iPhone/Android/PC/Other"... maybe if I run virtual PC software and use the nook for PC app???

As Navelgazer indicated, this fixed the Nook for Mac Beta app on my Mac Mini, running 10.6.8 on an Intel Core 2 Duo...
- Create a new folder in Applications
- Name it NOOKForMac
- Drag the NOOK for Mac application into this new folder
Open the application, and WHAMMO.....it works!
Before the fix I got the same results that many have been reporting on these boards where the Nook logo and animation loads and then the app freezes up. For those of you who this fix helps, enjoy...

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It used to work great now nothing. Why hasn't B&N addressed this yet?
