Please add a way to backup Apps save data to Nook HD.

Status: Under Review

Most games do not allow us to backup the save progress and restore it later.  This is extremely aggravating when a reset is required to resolve another issue and you have to start all over again.

So, in short, it would be wonderful if there was a supported official backup and restore method.

I know things like Titanium Backup exist for Android but those require rooting the device.  I'm fine playing in the walled garden BN has setup and really don't want to root my device so if BN could provide something that would be amazingly useful.

I'd even pay extra for the function if asked for.  I hate losing my game progress whenver I have to do a reset or upgrade my device.

Yes they need to fix the shelving problem but also lets not ignor the fact that if you buy a new nook that you have to redo all shelves.  If nook could figure out a way to transfer your shelving from your nook to thier computer program to a new Nook that you bought it would have one up on other readers. On other readers if you had two different accounts and put an ebook on a Nook that you own you could unlock the book as long as you had the name and card # you bought the book with you could read it on your other Nook.  I haven't tried it with my Nook HD+ yet.  Now if you could build a shelf in the computer program then just transfer all info to the Nook it would save a lot of work.  Even if you could back up the work and just be able to side load it that would be great.

That's other Nook readers.

To Add To this.

Even when apps (like some of ours) have this option, there are problems

1) Users don't backup. Most users forget to backup or never realize that the row that says 'Backup and Restore' is actually worth using.

2) Customer Service's standard solutions seem to be - Archive the App, Erase and Deregister the Device. Both blow up app data.

So it would be really good to have some way to backup all app data automatically or something.

It might be nice to setup a scheduled backup that runs every so often (configurable by the user of course).  And to have a choice between various backup locations such as the sdcard or various cloud drive services like Dropbox.

To me it's unacceptable to have users loose data for a reset or reinstallation of an app.  We don't accept that situation for computers and there is no reason we should accept that on our other devices.

The situation never bothered me when I had the e-ink devices but with a tablet that stores data locally it becomes a major annoyance.

Well there are plenty of people would appreciate a way to back up their shelves to save days of work.  So far I've spent 10 days of any spare time I've had putting my ebooks in shelves.  I'm sure anyone who has any amount of books on shelves would welcome a way of saving that time and being able to just transfer your shelves from one Nook to another Nook.  I can't believe for one minute that being able to backup shelves wouldn't be welcomed.  I wasn't talking about books being backed up because you can do that with the B&N app for the computer but you can't back up your shelves.

I and many others have requested this basic functionality that should be available as a "standard feature".  B&N really dropped the ball on this and many other support issues.  Great hardware, horrible software support.

B&N , please provide a native way to backup and restore user data!
