Many are reporting "DRP Reader Failed" error message while trying to read cbz files.
I was just going to post about this same issue when I saw this one here, so here is my comment to support getting this looked at as soon as possible. This is just as deterimental for some users as not being able to open standard eBooks would be.
Edit: I do realize there are Comic reader apps that are available now with Google Play access, but there was nothing wrong with the default comic reader and I would very much prefer not to have to rely on a separate app for it.
Since the OP didn't mention it, this relates to the HD nooks.
I am also getting "DRP Reader Failed" when i try to read my comics in CBZ format, which according to the HD+ specs is a supported format.
I was able to read them fine until two days ago when the 2.1 update was installed in my HD+.
After this message pops-up, there are two options available: Cancel and Wi-Fi. When you tap Wi-Fi, the HD+ attempts to launch some setting screen, but then it fails and goes back to the home screen.
Please fix this problem!!!!
I am having the same problem. According to the product page for the Nook HD, it clearly states .CBZ files as compatible with the Nook HD, yet I get the same error message. I had converted many a file to the format for ease of viewing for my Nook, and am very unhappy that over 2/3rds of my files are unviewable.
Please fix this as soon as possible!
Same problem others are experiencing with cbz files. Gotta have my comics.
Of the 64 items in my library in my Nook HD, I can only open 8 of them because everything else is a CBZ file with this new "DRP Reader Failed" error. The 2.1 update has turned my HD into a very expensive paperweight.

I bought the nook specifically to read comics. Please get this fixed.
I bought a nook HD and then a nook HD+ for the sole purpose of reading digital comics, which I enjoyed reading until they both automatically updated. Now they sit on a shelf where I glare at them thinking of all the money I wasted since this happened right when I'm outside my return window on both devices.
Having never owned a nook before I have no idea how good/bad/fast they are about fixing problems like this, but when you say your device supports a file format then I don't think I'm out of line in assuming future software updates will continue to support those formats.
Thoroughly regret this as my choice of e-reader.
I posted under this already, but I think this needs to get escalated much quicker than it is. As I mentioned, this is absolutely identical in terms of severity to a situation where the Nook HD/HD+ wouldn't be opening standard eBook files. Something like that would have obviously been corrected in a matter of a day, and wouldn't have been left unresponded to for a week.
This isn't about instant gratification for us, it is simply about our expectation that B&N recognize their egregious error and fix it as an extremely high priority item.
