Many posters are heaving difficulty with losing shelves.
One one of the two occasions I lost my shelves (prior to 2.05), it occurred when I used Open Explorer to delect a.doc file I had converted (on the HD) from a .pdf file (using the Office app). I was not hooked up to the computer at the time. Simultaneously, the HD accessed my SD card, even though the file was stored on internal memory. At the time, I thought there might be an issue with either Open Explorer or the Office app, as I was able to recreate it 3 times.
On the other occasion, I was hooked up to the computer like both Compulsive and Juniona, and deleted a corrupted book I had just sideloaded through Calibre; on that occasion, I thought the issue might have been my fault because I may have deleted before I actually closed out the ebook. Again, although all my sideloaded books were on internal memory, the HD tried to access the SD card right before the shelves disappeared.
5ivedom also lost shelves when deleting a scrapbook while connected from the computer. I know Juniona's books were on her SD card; were yours Compulsive?
Others have reported losing shelves when adding a child profile.
It almost seems as if the HD gets mixed up regarding which drive to access in these situations.
Some have also reported losing shelves when turning the HD off and restarting; I'd be curious to know what occurred right before the shutdown and restart. For those reporters, at least one did not have an SD card installed.

Hello All,
I was unable to replicate this. Can you please provide the following:
1.) Was the WiFi good?
2.) What was the firmware version?
3.) Does the specific shelves disappear or is it all?
4.) Is it new shelves or existing shelves?
Can you just provide a step by step troubleshoothing?
Thank You

I had 2.02 when I lost ALL of my existing shelves after deleting an office document and when deleting a sideloaded book while hooked up to the computer via USB. I have been hesitant to try deleting a document with 2.04 or 2.05, as some are still reporting loss of shelves even after installing 2.04 and 2.05. Wi-fi connection was good, and was on when I lost shelves after deleting the office document. I'm pretty sure the wi-fi was off when I lost my shelves the second time. I had owned the HD for more than two weeks and had had no difficulty with loss of shelves until these 2 instances occorred (both on the same day).
In the first instance, I had previously downloaded a pdf file onto the HD internal memory (several days prior). I had opened the pdf file with Quick Office Pro, converted it to a text document and closed it, saving it to internal memory. About 10 minutes later I deleted the text document directly from the HD; I was not connected to the computer. At the moment I deleted the file, the notification the HD was scanning the 32 g SD card (only sideloaded movies on it) popped up, then all of my 30 shelves, with about 850 books on them, disappeared. The shelves had been in place for at least 2 weeks before the loss and contained both B&N downloaded books and sideloaded books. I then added a couple of shelves, and put a few books on them, to see if I could recreate the shelf loss. Was able to replicate the loss 3 times following the above sequence. I also checked to see if shelves were lost if the pdf file was deleted; they were not.
In the second instance (same day), I had just reshelved all of my B&N books (about 600) and was sideloading books onto internal memory via Calibre. While still connected via USB, I attempted to open a newly sideloaded book on the HD; but gibbersh popped up. I then deleted the boo.k noticed the pop up message that the HD was accessing the SD card, and immediately afterward, all of my shelves disappeared.
All of my sideloaded books, music and documents are on the HD itself, not on the SD card.
