Not enough space to copy update files

Status: Under Review

I was extremely surprised at the size of the update file for the 1.2.1 Software Version update. A 115MB file for a device that only has 256MB? Does this mean I have to keep 120MB or more free for futures updates?

No, you don't have to reserve any free space for updates.

The 250MB limit (1GB - 750MB = roughly 250MB) is for content that you copy into the device's "My Files" folder and its subfolders. Those, and the corresponding folders on your microSD card, are the only places where files will appear in your Nook's library.

Updates go into the Nook root directory (as it appears in Windows Explorer), which is the parent folder to My Files and not subject to the same size restriction.

By the way, though it isn't particularly obvious or well explained, for future reference this isn't really the best place to post questions about the Nook Simple Touch. This board is primarily for bug reports. The best place would be the NOOK E-Ink Support board.

I did copy the file to the correct directory! Sorry for posting in the wrong Sub-Forum.
