Problems after Update 2.2.0

Status: Open
Every since update 2.2.0, I've experienced two problems. Neither has been fixed by a hard reset AND deregister/reset (called tech support this morning). First, my Nook HD+ battery has not been the same. It drains really fast and has shut itself off many times (the battery status is not being read correctly; when I put it down this morning it was at 85%, picked it up this afternoon 92%; then in 30 minutes it dropped to 52% and said it was critically low and then shut down). The next problem is that is constantly tries to update my Twitter app. Please BN push out a fix ASAP!

I agree.   Same issues are happening to me.  Have tried total reset etc.   Still is happening.

I'm having the same problem too and it's frustrating that no one seems to be listening and responding.  I had posted in the HD secton and was told to move the conversation to report issue.  Not one person has responded to my message.

Obvisiously this is not an isolated problem because others are repoting it.  And like you said resetting is not solving the problem.

I'm experiencing the same problem and am stuck.  I can't read anything for longer than 45 mins.  Not good

I'm also experiencing battery problems.  Battery life seems to be much shorter since 2.2.0 update.

It may be something to do with reading the battery charge state as yesterday my charge jumped UP from 4% (and a critical warning), up to 17% without plugging in my Nook HD+, and as I was using it!

Agree battery life seems shorter.  I would also like to know if it is at all possible to restore the missing shelves (maybe with ES file manager?) and delete the added locked Nook bookmark folder {Chrome defaults to it and they are useless to me).  Thanks.

I have been having the same problem with battery readings. Just this morning I have been using it to surf, play a game and read. Until a few minutes ago it read 75% charged. Then I got the 15% warning ,right after it said it was at critical level. Plugged it in and said I was at14%. Now after just a few minutes it tells me I am at 20%. Love my HD+ , cant really imagine not having it. However I fear its not going to be a lasting device with me if these updates continue to" break" my reader.

I bought online a factory refurbished Nook HD+ late last year.  It arrived without the 2.2.0 update installed. The tablet was a bargain and has worked great.

I am a big B&N fan and want to see them stay in business (remember Borders?) but reading this thread makes me wonder why they can't respond to what appears to be a real glitch in the HD and HD+ updates, especially in an area where Nooks (I have three) seem to excel, namely, battery life.

Anyway, without shilling for any particular supplier, let me just say that after reading this and similar threads, instead of updating my HD+ I took advantage of one of those online suppliers who, for a reasonable price, can give you (via either a download or a ready to load SD card) everything you need in order to boot up and operate your Nook HD+ tablet as a Google approved Android device (it runs Kit Kat version 4.4 with 100% Google Play access) while retaining the ability to operate your tablet purely as a Nook HD+ whenever you wish.

Just one example of what this does.  After making a few tweaks on the tablet's Android side, I regularly watch Amazon Prime Movies on my HD+ and do so on a screen which is as good as or better than any Kindle screen.  All this using a tablet which cost me half as much (it's refurbished, remember) as a similar Kindle would have.

If and when B&N announces the necessary fixes, I may consider updating to 2.2.0.  But for now, I am keeping everything the way it is.

I am also having the same problem with the battery - keep getting "critically low battery" warning when the device information shows plenty of battery charge. Called the B&N help line and at first I was told that it was my charger so I purchased a new one.  Of course that didn't help and was a total waste of money.  My nook is only 5 months old and can be replaced but that means I lose all bookmarks, notes and progress on apps not purchased directly from B&N.  I'm not very happy about that.  I was using a Kindle when I was talked into switching to Nook.  Now I'm very, very sorry I did.  I will never recommend Nook to anyone.  Wish I had seen these postings before I wasted by money on one.

I too am having issues with my NOOK HD+ and the battery life. I went to B&N and explained to them my issue. Unfortunately, I didn't have my Nook with me and the "Nook" expert told me to "force" close some of my applications that were running in the background. I explained to him that I only use the Nook for reading and sufing the web. the end result was for me to bring it back for them to have a look. So for now, I am struggling with about 2-3 hours of battery then 20 minutes of charging to get it back to 100% then 2-3 hours of use again!

Welcome to the NOOK Issue Reporting exchange. Post your issue and come back later to check its status, as well as commentary from myself and BN developers. - Alex
