Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

suggestions for kids book to download onto classic Nook

I have a classic nook that I got for Christmas this past year and I love it. I have been finding lots of cheap or free books to read (I am very fond of the classics and they seem to be much cheaper than newer books). I have a 7 year old who is starting to get into chapter books a little bit. I have downloaded the Judy Moody book that is spotlighted this month and am very pleased with the way the book looks on the Nook. I am wondering if you guys could suggest more books that would work well on my classic Nook and be a fun read-aloud or a good book for my daughter to read on her own. Thanks!

Dinosaurs Before Dark (Magic Tree House Series #1)

The Magic Treehouse series is always popular with new readers and they're available on NOOK.  The books grow a bit as the readers do - they get a bit longer and have more text/chapters as you go on in the series (there are about 45 in the series, if I remember correctly).

I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

  • Thank you! I had never heard of this series.  I just noticed that there are some available at our local library, I will see if they have them available for ereaders and try them out before we start buying them full price from B&N.
