Hello,

I haven't seen my question here.  There are a couple of free nookbooks that I'd like.  I've tried to download them from my nook simple, and from thie B&N site.  Either the ebook cannot be found--after I

ve clicked on the download link-or "An error occurred during purchase. Please try again."  Of course, when I purchased an ebook, it downloaded just fine.  Why show the free ones if you aren't allowing them?

Thank you!  I appreciate your response.

My Nook hasn't been able to download books for months.  I need to download it to my pc, then sideload it.  That works, but if it downloads to my pc, it should download to my Nook!

Same with me. Cannot download to nook. How do you sideload?

Been trying to dowload books I paid for in Oct. of 2012. Still cannot. What a ripoff.

I purchased a book pre-sale and it came out onTuesday.  I cannot get it on my PC, my Nook tablet or my Nook HD Plus.  What is happening.  Anything else I have bought has downloaded except this one book.

For pre-sale books that won't download: Archive the book, then shut your nook all the way off (make sure it isn't just sleeping), and then turn it back on, then redownload the book. This seems to work consistantly for me. The turning it off and on again in the middle is really important (not sure why). And it works on all Nook devices, regardless of type in my experience. Hope this helps!

As of this afternoon and still now I have been unable to download anything or open the store.  I know this is coming from their end as everything else working fine.  Is there any idea when this will be fixed?  I have been charged for books I csn not download!

I also have been having this problem in the store on my nook. I can't even buy anything. The message I get is that I am not connected to the Wifi, but I am -- and the other things are working fine through wifi. Frustrating!

Several things to checkout:

1. Make sure that your credit card is correct and if you are using a gift card checkout that there is a balance showing. (I don't know what the minimum is but I suspect the system looks at this when you are in the store trying to download a book to read.).

2. Be sure that your account works at home before going to the store. Sign in to BN at home to verify it works.

3. Check with the management or the Nook department in the store to see if their system is up. If your account is OK then you should have at least the same type of access or better than the one's on display. You can compare this by using a display model to see if it brings up the books/apps, etc. that you are interested in.

4. You may need to call the BN Nook help desk from the store to determine the problem if none of the above works. The real down side is if they ask you to reinstall your Nook program. This usually requires redownloading all your apps, books all over again and if you have any Google apps or Google app store purchases you will need to save them before this procedure as BN does no guarantee their recovery. I advise listing the Google apps on a separate sheet of paper and reinstall them after the initial Nook programs and apps are restored. Sadly, this is a time consuming process.

I think it's ridiculous to say a customer has to go to the store because B&N can't get their download issues fixed.  I guess I had forgotten why I started buying most of my e-books at amazon.  Now, with 3 books paid for that I can't read, I certainly remember.

Does anyone else have this problem?????   My 1st Edition Nook has been babied since I bought it August 2010.  In December 2013 I turned it on and it had de-registered itself, it would not download books or open books aready on the Nook.  Called Support for my 1st Edition and was told how to fix, they had me wipe it clean, download the new update (which I had, but was told it must not have downloaded correctly.)  Then they had me re-register.  When would not download, was told I had too many books,(1728 books) Now I have a lovely paperweight, it will not download anything.  They want me to send it in and exchange it for a used/refurbised-problem from someone else.  I know my Nook is fine, because my daughter's nook did the same thing.  I wonder what Barnes and Noble did to the 1st Editions to cause this problem.

Geez, 1,000+ books?? Don't you ever archive anything? Sounds like you're a bit lazy.
