Re: Can You Pay to Advertise Your Book?

No, Kitty, this was not a troll-related issue. This was a matter of dollars leaving my wallet for alleged advertising on a site highly regarded as reputable by book lovers. If not for my instantaneous recognition of what was really being sold--it certainly wasn't I paid to sell--I might not have demanded and been offered a full refund. Barnes and Noble doesn't hide its secret industry affiliations; at least I assume it doesn't. Not so with this other site.

Re: Can You Pay to Advertise Your Book?

The major problem I have with promoting my books is that my reader doesn't read yet. The parents don't want to hear or read promos about books for young ones. I wish there was a way to bribe my reader electronically.

Re: Can You Pay to Advertise Your Book?

Promoting children's books certainly presents its own problems. I'm grateful that that's not an additional burden for me. But, like, right now, I'm looking at some scowling gentleman on the Pubit Forum advertising "The Pimsleur Approach." How much would that ad cost for one day? $1000? More?

Haven't seen it and I've never heard of that. I do think one of the problems are the categories here. They did change something a time back and a Pubit writer said her book sales went way down. Amazon is much worse. They put YA in with children. No category for teens. As Indie becomes more mainstream, that will help.

Re: Can You Pay to Advertise Your Book?

I got a BN promotion today that included Nook "First." How does BN choose these books?
