December Sales Display

December sales information was not displaying correctly over the weekend. This problem is now resolved.

Please note that "This Month's Sales Activity" and the monthly sales report for the current month do not include yesterday and today. Sales are added to the appropriate monthly report on the third day after the sale.

Mine are corrected, per your update; thank you for letting us know -- it is rare to see a forum announcement to this effect but is much appreciated.

Thank you for posting this - this addressed my biggest concern, the silence coming from BN.

Re: December Sales Display

Nope, not resolved.  Yesterday's sales dissapeared this morning.  They are not listed as "yesterday's sales".  I'm glad the other sales appeared, but this does make me nervous that the final count will be incorrect.

Re: December Sales Display

Read the admin post again and see if that helps. B&N is a good company. I want a B&N store in my town.

Re: December Sales Display

Nope - didn't help.  The link I'm talking about is "yesterday's sales", not the "monthly sales" link.  I know that the monthly sales report lags by a day - but the yesterday's sales link usually shows yesterday's sales.

By adding the monthly sales, yesterday's sales and today's sales you get your current total.

See your pubit "my sales page" to understand what I am saying.

Re: December Sales Display

I'm giving my titles on Pubit!, a watch-and-see period for this December and depending on what happens, I may be unpublishing my titles.

After the announcement came via this thread by Admin, my sales stopped accruing. One might say that it's simply because there are no sales of my titles occurring right now. There is that possibility, although very unlikely and is why I'm giving it to the end of this month. I honestly believe there continues to be a sales reporting problem and it may be due to Pubit! staff being diverted during this high-sales period of Christmas. It may be taking their combined efforts, to fulfill orders of books in print by major publishers and ebooks sold by indies are a very low priority.

Indications are that they are having to manually track and post sales to our reports pages. They may have software in place that does this but continued failures in it may be the reason they are required to manually track and post or this may be the way it was set up to begin with. Whatever the case -- whether it's a software glitch or a failure of staff given charge of tracking and posting, the failure continues.

I also know this because there have been titles of my ebooks purchased and these never showed up in my commissions reports. This occurred in months past and while I believed for a time, that these sales showed up on succeeding months/weeks, when they were tracked down later, I no longer believe this to be the case (still don't believe there's any purposeful withholding of sales involved -- I believe it to be staff or software failures). There were a couple of these titles I'm referring to that didn't show up on reports at a later time (A very rare fluke? ... possibly)

I love having my titles associated with Barnes & Noble but I cannot bend over this far backwards for this to be the case. I do not believe this to be an over-reaction whatsover at this point. A B&N rep might say to me "if you're not happy with how things are going with your titles on our site, you are welcome to remove them" or they might even offer to remove them for me but this would completely bypass the fact that there is a problem that is simply not being resolved or being given the attention needed, for ongoing correction of it. Sales reporting falling behind and then being caught up, is not the problem -- I could be patient with that from now on but it is the failure for all back-sales to be re-applied to the reports, once they fail to the applied initially.

Administration might tell me that this simply is not the case but I would like to hear this from them -- it could make all the difference in the world for me but I don't believe this will happen.

This will be the deciding month for me.
