Where is my payment, PubIt?

I received a "payday" email just before May 1 and there's a payment listed on the My Sales page, but it's the 10th and I haven't received anything. I have emailed PubIt TWICE in the last 7 days and no reply. What is the deal? Is there someone I can call or contact? Does anyone read these boards?

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

I've been waiting since January for a payment, have not been paid once, got an email that my banking info is incorrect and I checked it and it was not, it was correct but no one seems to be able to help me. I'm ready to pull my book, I see sales but no payment. Phone calls get me nowhere as does email. Very frustrating.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

We are a small independent publisher and we received notice that our payment had been made May 30, 2011 via ACH and have received every nonsense excuse as to why it has never showed up in the account.

The dead giveaway that they are delaying payments is that it takes a week for them to respond to an email thereby buying them more time.

It is like dealing with a guy that owes you money, you know he hasn't got it but he insists on telling you "The Check Is In The Mail!"

Since they are dealing with writers who are technology savy you think they would be either mor forthright or more creative.

If they are anticipating bankruptcy like Borders, as long as they really do not issue the ACH we all become general creditiors and get in line with Random House, et al

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

@ endofanera,

that's what worries me.

I read stories like this on the board here and I think, "this can happen to any one of us publishers here."

Are you saying you haven't been paid since last month? For the month of March royalties?

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

Yes and they keep blaming it on the banks.  I received another e-mail this morning that attempts at paying would be made again next week, quote,

"We will make another attempt to send your royalty payment
next week.

You will be notified when the payment attempt occurs so
you can check with your bank to confirm it was received.

Please note that it may take a few business days for your
bank to update your account once the payment is initiated by Barnes &
Noble."

I keep getting e-mails like this.

It is a shame since it is a good program.  I will leave the books out there since slaes are sales, they have two purposes, revenue and increased awareness of our authors.

We shall see!!!

Talk to your bank. Sometimes there are problems with direct deposit at a bank.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

We get direct deposits domestic and international wire transfers from 87 organizations.  This is a first, thus very suspect!

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

They told me the same thing, that the bank routing number was incorrect, its not, I triple checked.  I never received my payment from January and receive direct deposits all the time from my job. The problem is with them, I'm out money and have yet to be paid by B & N. No one seems to know anything when I call, they have no clue who to direct me to.

Type the routing number into the form again.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

Some people cut and paste, that's why I said that.

You didn't say when the direct deposit was to be in the account. I know that it can take a few days for it to show up.

I have no idea what to do, but please post if the money shows up this week.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

same same here - never got paid - sometimes get an e-mail saying the bank details are wrong (which they aren't - Amazon, Sony, Apple can all pay to my account without problems). Never get a response - sometimes an e-mail a few weeks later saying that they will try again but then nothing for a long time, then some e-mail again with the same from the beginning. Very frustrating. I hope they pay one day - 4 monthly payments are now overdue - it is not much money, only about US$1,000 but still.

Get your act together!

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

I would go to the bank and explain what happened. The bank rejected the payment.

They can also help with information on how to correct the form. I'd ask them to help and get  my account  up on a computer at the bank and have them go over the form with me.

Online forms are weird. Sometimes all related information has to be deleted and typed again.

I don't know how many times BN can send the deposit.

If you get the online info done, you need your account ID number on the email.

If all else fails, there's the nasty issue of a new account and how to migrate the sales payments to it.

If anyone solves this, please post it.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

Strayer;

You must be a very nice person seeing no evil in people ...or an employee of B&N.

The bottom line on this 'MYSTERY' is that B&N is holding onto cash and the easiest place to do that is from a bunch of independents that publish through PubIt and claim 'The EFT is in cyberspace'!

It is a hustle as old as the creation of checks and the old deadbeat cry "I sent the payment to you...it must have gotten lost in the mail"!

Watch the news and Media Bistro for the impending announcements about B&Ns problems.

My bet, some form of Bankruptcy is in the works.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

That was a troll answer.

You have been here since Friday and know all this.

You weren't the one having the trouble with a payment.

I would ignore this, but you are accusing me of being a toadie.

If you don't like BN, why are you here?

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

I'm sorry Strayer, I do not know what a troll answer is nor do I know what a toadie is, as to the rest of your reply,

I am quite fond of B&N and the Pubit program as I stated earlier:

"It is a shame since it is a good program.  I will leave the books out there since slaes are sales, they have two purposes, revenue and increased awareness of our authors."

I assume your question as to why am I hear refers to this forum and I would assume for the same reason you are, to share experiences and knowledge.

Re: Where is my payment, PubIt?

...and what makes you say we were not having trouble with payments.  That is how I found the thread.  My first post points out the fact that we were getting 'delaying' e-mails blaming us for setting up the account wrong...not true!

My comment plus the comment of the originator of the thread were followed by other publishers receiving the same nonsense e-mails.

The pattern is typical of organizations strapped for cash and we know that B&N is strapped for cash.  My posts simply share my experience and propose a conclusion that can be drawn 'B&N is using ancient delaying tactics because they are cash poor and bleeding money'.

I do not for one minute think that the others in this thread 'mis entered' the bank data nor have I ever experienced EFTs of any sort go astray if the data was correct and we together with at least one other poster have many sucesses with ACH incoming and have no reason to believe with this one debtor the data is wrong.

[ Edited ]

Endofanera and Strayer,

I attempted a balanced post on this subject, in a new thread,

here> Attention Aministration: Sales Tab & other Issues

I hope it is perceived as I intended.

Thanks guys.
