I just got my Nook 2 yesterday. In general I really love it. However, I guess in the interest of removing all clutter, they removed the clock from the upper right of the reading screen. I know you can just tap the center of the screen and see it. However, I really liked to be able to see what time it was as I was reading by just glancing up at the right corner.
Any one else hope that they give us the option to put the clock back on the reading page in a firmware update?

I don't. I wear a watch. ![]()
I'm happy not having "other stuff" on the screen, to maximize the reading area.

I miss the clock, however, I can live without it. There are other new things on the new Nook (N2E) that make it even more versatile and dynamic than the previous edition.

Hmmm, well I guess I never found the clock on my 1st Nook. My new nook arrives tomorrow
and I sold my old Nook to a co-worker today.

As much as I'd like the clock, at this point, I'm hoping they never issue an update for the nook 2.

When I start to miss it I just tap and there it is, so no it's not an issue for me personally.

I didn't have the N1E so I can't really miss the clock (since I never had it) ![]()
But I'm glad it's not there all the time. If it were there, I would look at it regularly. When I'm reading, I don't want to be constantly thinking "what time is it?"--that's one of the very things I want to escape when I'm reading.
Nice that I can access it in case I'm reading on a break or something, but any more obvious/constantly visible and it'd feel intrusive to me.

I didn't mind the clock before. I read before work and during the lunch, so it was good to be able to glance up and see how much longer I had before I had to get ready. Personally, I wish I could get rid of the page numbers at the bottom. Maybe just leave the current page shown, but I don't care for the 123 of 1243.

I usually wear a watch whenever I go out (have several) and at home there are clocks all over the place (phone, DVR, stereo, microwave, stove, my "atomic-time" clocks in the bedrooms,...), so no, I do not miss nor need a clock on my ereader.
Given some people like it and some of us do not, I think the tap to show feature is not a bad compromise for everybody.

Interesting. I really like having the "of 1243". One thing I like better about DTB is that I know just by feel when I have it open where I'm at in the book. Having the page number tell me, essentially, how much of the book I have left isn't the same as feeling one side of the book get thinner and thinner as I near the end (
), but it's a digital approximation that I appreciate having there.

Ditto! And I like that you can turn on/off wi-fi too from that ame tap. Removes the unnecessary until it's needed.

Do you miss the clock when reading on the Nook 2?
- There is a clock on the wall, desk, radio, or computer
- There is a clock on my phone
- There is a clock on my wrist

Didn't notice until you mentioned it.

No, i really don't miss the clock. but it would be a convenient feature to have up there in case one forgets their wrist watch or cellphone.
It really would not take an additional reading line to have it up in the same line as the book title.
No big deal though.
Good Reading

If you really have no other way of checking the time, it is VERY simple with the new Nook.
Touch the center top or center bottom of the screen.
Viola! One each clock will appear in the upper right corner, just like magic.
Touch the center top to make it go away again.

I liked having the clock on my N1E, it was a big help in my getting to sleep at a fairly reasonable hour when I had been reading far too long. My problem, at times, is I lose myself too much in the book and completely lose track of time.
I didn't find the clock obtrusive but I can see where some may. I would like to see it as an option to see the clock or not.
Not everyone wears a watch and not everyone has a clock in every room of their home, on purpose.

Yes - it helped keep me from staying up quite so late reading!

I like the idea of not having so much clutter on the screen as I read a book, like you said, it's still there, you just have to tap the middle of the screen to see what time it is and again to have it disappear. Gives more emphasis on the reading material and less on everything else and after all you'll be swiping or tapping to turn the page so what's another tap or two of the finger?
