How do you un-self something

I have somethings that I put on a shelf & then archived. They remain in the shelf. I can unarchive it from there but how do I remove it from the self?

You either have to remove books from shelves before archiving them or unarchive them, remove them from their shelves, and then archive them again. Efficient, I know.
