With a couple of books now my Nook Simple Touch does not keep proper track of the last page read when I return to the book using the "READING now" option on the top left portion of the Home page or using the tiny book icon on the top left corner of the page margin. However, going to the Library list and selecting the book will return me to the proper last page read. The "READING now" and tiny book icon always got to page 1. This has happened with only two out of about 10 or 12 books read so far, and both books were library loans loaded from Adobe Digital Editions. Other books loaded with Digital Editions have kept track of last page read just fine no matter which option I used to return to the book. I both cases, the books were added to a shelf I created for Library Loans, but other books from that same shelf have retained the proper last page read regardless of option used to return to the book. Any ideas of what might be causing this erratic behavior?

Hello, Fred, and welcome to the forum.
If you read this thread and the other three linked to in the first post there, you'll probably learn more than you ever wanted to know about the history and diagnosis of this problem, as well as some suggested workarounds. (The main one being: Stay off your Home page.)
As for the prognosis for an actual fix, nobody seems to know.

Strange. I haven't seen this problem at all on my Nook.

Sun_Cat,
Thanks. I guess I was in the wrong discussion area: I'm new to the forum and I'll pick it all up soon enough. The thread that you directed me to answers a lot of questions and raises others. Bottom line - B&N is, like so many others, marketing products that still have a lot of development work that needs to be done. As far as the issue at hand goes, there are a lot of variables that seem to go into the mix, e.g., timing, sequence of events, source of materials, etc.
I have learned one thing already: for the most part, you are better off on this forum than going to B&N tech support for answers!

Generally true, IMHO. And if you need tech support, always CALL and DO NOT EMAIL.

It only happens to sideloaded books and is only apparent when you use the Home Screen or Reading Now icon to open an affected book. It doesn't appear to affect books when using the Library menu to open books.
It's pretty easy to tell when a book is going to behave this way. The Home Screen will display page 1 of 1. Correcting the problem only requires removing the affected book and adding it back again.
