Sideloading and "Most Recent" in Library

Hi, all, I have an odd question, or at least it seems odd to me... :-)

I just got a Nook Simple Touch for Valentine's day, and it's replacing my 1st gen Nook. In general, couldn't be happier with the device.

When I set it up, it synched with my online version of my B&N library. I then added a memory card and sideloaded my large collection of epubs (mostly Gutenberg and Baen titles) onto the card.

I've noticed that when I view the Nook's Library with the "Most Recent" sort ordering, all of my sideloaded files show up first ahead of my online B&N library files. It's kind of annoying, but I can page through to my purchased content if I need to.

Before I give up on this, though, I thought I should check. Is there any way to change the date that the Nook uses as the "date" for the sideloaded content?

Technical talk: I looked at the files on the memory card on my Mac. Changing the atime and mtime using touch had no effect. I'm guessing the Nook uses ctime, which I can't find an easy way to change. Anyone else have any luck getting the Nook to sort these differently?

I couldn't find a way. I found this so annoying that I removed my SD card.

The most recent sorts puts all the "New" books at the top.  Which basically means all the books that haven't been opened.  My sideloaded books show up at the top of the most recent, until I open them, then they will drop down in the list.  So, as far as the NST is concerned, most recent means most recent unopened and then most recent opened.

The organization aspect of the NST is one of the things I dislike most about the device.  I like the battery life, I like how light it is, I hate the organization and I find it annoying to try and find a book.  Shelving is awful, there's no way to tell if you've placed every book on a shelf, so if you view it by shelves, you've not guarantee that all your books are there.  People complained about shelving when they added it to the N1E, but the N1E method is 200% better than the NST.

Re: Sideloading and "Most Recent" in Library

Solved my own problem, thanks to a bit of techie crowd-sourcing.

Turns out that the memory card is FAT formatted. Thankfully I have a Windows PC floating around. I plugged the Nook into the PC, found a utility that lets me change the datestamp (BulkFileChanger), and set all the dates back to 2000. Voila, problem solved. Now all of my B&N books are at the top of the list, and all my sideloaded files are at the end.
