I got exhausted with customer service trying to correct a problem with my warranty, so I broke down and purchased a new Simple touch. The first think I did after registering was to "TRY" and finish a book I was reading in store on my N1E. Sat down with my pizza and pepsi and searched for the book. When the search was complete it would not allow me to read in store. It gave me the option to 'Buy' or 'Read Sample'. Store personnel tried to help but it wouldn't work, so we tried a new book via the shop function. The next book allowed reading in store. So I tried a second book I had started. The same problem ... Buy or Read Sample.
Apparently if a book is already in your Library, either purchased in its entirety or as a Sample, one cannot read it in store as you could with the N1E. Has anyone else encountered this?
(1) If I delete the sample from my library, can I then read it in store?
(2) Is there a way to transfer the book from "sample" to "wish list" and read it in store?
I used to keep samples of remaining books of a series that I had not read. Perhaps the wish list is the way to go now?
Suggestions? Ideas?
Thanks!

Wish I could help, but in my 2 years of Nook ownership (both N1E & N2E) I have never used the read in store function. And I live only a couple miles from my local B&N and have 4 other area stores.
For me, most samples are long enough to tell if I want to buy, and I have enough sources of free books so I haven't ever used it just to get a free read.
I'm inferring from what you describe that you were able to use read-in-store on these titles previously, but not now. (Some titles are not part of the program.) Even then, there is a chance that they are no longer available as part of read-in-store.
So, my best guesses:
1) Worth a try. Sounds like it might work.
2) Not that I know of.
Speaking of wishlists; if no one has warned you, the N2E device wishlist does not sync up with the online wishlist like the N1E did. That's probably my #1 gripe about the differences between the two. #2 overall, #1 being shelving, but shelving sucks on both so N1E was no winner their either.

I agree the shelving, which could be a great tool, really has no worth. Especially since you cannot just move a book you are reading to a designated shelf (on the spot). Haven't figured out the wishlist thing either. However, it does appear that once a sample is deleted (not archived) from the library, you can read the book 'in store'. At least it worked on the first book I tried. Chalk it up as another feature lost from the N1E.
