Is there anyway to permanently delete the authors/nature screensavers off my Nook Simple Touch? The authors screensaver seems to show up only when I turn my Nook on. I have a screensaver I picked out that shows when I hit the button on top or when it goes to sleep.
Any help is much appreciated

I'm not aware of any way to get rid of the Bronte girls on first boot, although the image will eventually change to my selected screen saver, but I've usually unlocked the screen by that time.

The only way I know of to delete those screensavers is to root your device so you gain access to the hidden partition where they live.
I located the folders on my NST and was about to swap the folder names, but backed off, fearing a possible boot loop that I don't feel like fixing right now.
I did try renaming one of the .png files with a leading 'a' to precede the 3 Bronte sisters, but it still showed the ladies on reboot. I am wondering if that imagename is hard-coded somewhere. Replacing the 'offending' image(s) with new content but the same file name is probably a safe bet, but I haven't tried it yet.
Since it eventually rotates away from them after the unit has started up and mounted the SD card, this hasn't been much of a priority. However, I might get some odd looks at work if the sisters show up on my screen. I'm not exactly a literary type!

If you are "turning your nook on" that means you are "turning your nook off."
STOP DOING THAT!
(sorry for yelling, I wanted to get your attention).
You don't need to turn it completely off unless you are going to leave it alone for a couple of weeks or are trying to force a complete reboot (due to some issue).
The e-ink screen doesn't use any power to hold an image. Set the screensaver you want and use the "n" button or tap the power-button to put it to "sleep" and leave it there.
You will still see the built-in screen at certain times when the unit doesn't trust the external memory (like when it's hooked up as a drive to your computer or when it's booting up from a complete shut-down).

I wouldn't have the slightest clue on how to find those files and edit lol. I'd end up breaking something...

Well you won't have to worry about it if you don't turn your Nook off unless you have to... ![]()
