N2E wont hold a charge?

I had bought my daughter a Nook ST for christmas.  It's been working fine all this time.  Last week she came to me and said it wasn't working even though she charged it.  I tested it out.  When I plug the NST into the charger it shows the Nook Starting Up screen.  Then I can unlock the device and access settings and what not.  The battery icon constantly shows '?' and the device info shows a full charge.  If I take it off the charger it works fine for only a little less than a minute, then it acts like the battery has drained.  It will not respond to any button pushes or touches to the touch screen.  Put it back on the charger and it restarts again.  I have given it more than 24 hours of charging time and no change.

 

It does have software version 1.1.0

 

Does anyone have any ideas what to look for that I might be missing?  Or should I go ahead and give B&N CS a call.

I'd say that what you've done is pretty conclusive. The battery is kaput.
