Nook Simple Touch Won't Download Books?

Hey everyone,

Okay, so I just got a Nook Simple Touch for Christmas. I've had a First Edition and never had any problems with wi-fi connection or downloading books with it before. So, first of all, my Nook says it's connected to my network, but there is no internet. I don't know how this is possible, but anyway, my pre-purchased books from my other Nook won't download. They appear in my library, but when I hit "Connect", it says "Connecting" for a few seconds and goes right back to "Connect", and tells me to choose a network from which to do the operation. To me, that makes no sense, as I'm already connected to the internet. So basically what I'm asking is, is this a problem with my network, or the Nook itself? I can't even buy Nook books online right now; maybe it's a server issue? Thanks for your help.

It's a little of both. The next nook update should make connecting to wifi easier.

Post your router model number so someone familiar with router settings can help you with a work-around. You might also want to do a search for your router model number on these boards to see if someone else has already encountered this problem and found a solution.

Hey, I'm having the same problem.  My Nook Simple is replacing my original Nook.  The first book, the one I was reading when the new Nook arrived, worked just fine.  I'm trying to download another book from my library, but it isn't working.  It keeps 'syncing'...but then goes to sleep.  Now I set the screen for an hour, hoping that will give it time to sync up, then maybe the book will download.  Other than that, I'm not sure what to do.  Searching through these posts, looking for an answer.

Well..my problem worked itself out just fine.  My son suggested i turn the Nook off & back on.  I did that, and also leaving the screen set for an hour, because it was the first use...  Now it only takes a couple seconds to download a book from my library.  I love this thing!
