Pages turning back by themselves

I've noticed that while I've had this device if it idles in a sideloaded book too long that it'll for some reason turn the pages back to the last time it did a full screen refresh. I've also noticed that at completely random times it'll turn the pages back over a couple dozen pages meaning that I'll randomly and completely lose my page for 20 or more pages.

I don't read books from B&N's library, I've downloaded them all and sideloaded them (archived all my books) so I don't know if this issue is there too. I can't reliably reproduce this but it is there and it's very hard to miss and entirely inconvenient. Sometimes it happens twice in a night other times I don't see it for a few days or weeks.

Re: Pages turning back by themselves

If you have wifi on while reading, turn that off. BN could be syncing the page numbers on you. Each page takes more than one screen refresh to get to the next page number. Syncing will probably take you to the begining of the page number you are on. That would account for it going back one "page" or so.

There may be something on the screen that is activating the touch sensors. Take a lens cloth (or anything that won't scratch the screen) and go over the screen. If it is always going back in the book, concentrate on the left side of the screen around the edges.

That seems like it would be a bug considering that syncing of sideloaded books isn't supported. Also it isn't that it's going to the first page turn of the page, usually it's just to the last full screen refresh (So usually within 5 or so page turns). The other issue it's actually going back 20 or more full pages. I usually keep my wifi off when reading so it never occured to me to check whether it's on or not. I'll have to keep an eye on that. I don't think it's something on the screen because the page turns happen in one full screen refresh. For example I'm on page 200 with so many page turns into that page, then the screen flashes cause I've left it idle and I'm five page turns back (sometimes, others just depending on how many page turns since the last full refresh) or with the second issue I suddenly find myself back on say page 175 or something. Syncing of pages would make sense if it was supported for sideloaded content and I'll have to keep an eye on whether it happens with Wifi on or not.

Re: Pages turning back by themselves

I missed that this was happening on sideloaded books.

The closest I have exerienced to what you're describing is going to the first screen of a page number rather than the screen I was actually on. I've noticed it doing that a few times when powering up or after adding\deleting books from the nook.
